Shooting Near Pierceland Results in Cross-Border Chase for Cold Lake RCMP

A shooting on the Big Island Cree Territory resulted in a police chase spanning two provinces on Tuesday.
Shortly after a man and woman were reported shot on the reserve by Pierceland RCMP, police in Cold Lake spotted the suspect’s car and tried to pull it over. It sped off and officers chased it back to Saskatchewan. A short while after crossing the border, the suspect vehicle crashed into a ditch. Two people were arrested, but one got away and remains at large.
 20-year-old Adam Mohamed Elmi of Edmonton has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of using a firearm in the commission of an offence, 2 charges of discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, 3 counts of failing to comply with a recognizance and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.  26-year-old Amin Ali Yussuf of Edmonton has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm while prohibited, unauthorized possession of a firearm and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.  Adam Mohamed Elmi remains in custody and appears at Meadow Lake Provincial Court by CCTV on July 4, 2016, at 09:30 a.m.  Amin Ali Yussuf also remains in custody and appears at Meadow Lake Provincial Court by CCTV on June 27, 2016, at 9:30 a.m.  Both victims were treated in hospital for their injuries.  The female victim has since been released and the male victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.
