Cenovus to Spend $32 Million on Caribou Habitat Restoration

Cenovus has made a major announcement that it plans to spend 32 million dollars over 10 years to plant four million trees at its facilities near Cold Lake.
The project is aimed at restoring the local caribou population and the company says it goes well beyond regulatory requirements. The federal government has given provinces with caribou populations until October next year to develop a plan to restore their numbers.

Cenovus aims to replant over an area covering 3900 square kilometers. The company says it will be the largest single area of habitat restoration for Cariboy undertaken by any company anywhere in the world
