MD Begins Weed Spraying Program

The MD of Bonnyville has begun spraying roadside ditches along provincial highways and other roads.

The program will continue throughout the summer until the end of September in an effort to stop the growth of weeds and brush.

Residents who live along a primary or secondary highway have the option to take weed control into their own hands.By contacting either the MD’s Agriculture and Waste Department or Carillion, the contractor who performs the spraying, they can sign a weed control agreement to maintain their stretch of road themselves. If residents fail to keep their responsibilities, the company may take care of the matter themselves anyhow.
Landowners are reminded that the road allowances are owned by the M.D. or by the province in the case of Provincial Highways and any activity carried out within the road allowances are done at each persons’ own risk.
For more information or to sign a “Weed Control Agreement” please contact:
Matt Janz or Janice Boden at the ASB office 826–3951 or Carillion, Highways Maintenance Contractor at 812–2134.
