Local Woman Arrested After Passing Out Drunk in Vehicle

One local woman is in a heap of legal trouble after Bonnyville RCMP found her passed out behind the wheel of her car.

Police received multiple calls on the 29th in the middle of a day of a driver crossing the centerline on Highway 55 and driving way over the speed limit.   Police came by and located the suspect vehicle, now parked on the wrong side of the street in front of a business in La Corey.  Police approached and noticed a woman passed out sleeping in the driver’s seat with the vehicle still in gear.  After safely putting the vehicle in park, turning off the engine and removing the keys, police were finally able to wake the woman after shaking her several times.  The woman, – whose breath reeked of liquor according to police accounts – was advised that she was under arrest for drinking and driving and was demanded to provide a sample of her breath.  She became very aggressive, yelling at the officers and refused to comply.  She was subsequently transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where she was later released on court compelling documents for charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample, and Dangerous Driving along with a driver’s licence suspension.
