About 120 displaced Fort Mac residents attended a session on their next steps in returning home at the Bonnyville C2 today.
“The time is now coming to develop their return plan” explains Director of Emergency Social Service David Beale “What’s your plan to return north and go home? And if you can’t go home what’s your short-term plan in terms of what are you going to do for the next few months before you decide what you’re going to do? It’s time for families to move into something more appropriate than apartments.” Beale adds that the province is able to help out evacuees who might not be able to afford the transition to a more permanent shelter.
Alberta Works, Alberta Mental Health Services, The Red Cross and the town of Bonnyville were there to explain to evacuees what they needed to know. Evacuees had their questions answered afterwords as well.
