Prize Scam Plagues Bonnyville

A prize based scam is now making its way around the Lakeland
The Bonnyville RCMP say residents are getting calls that they’ve won cash or prizes, usually Reader’s Digest, Western Lotto or some other large company. They’re then told that they have to pay a fee or a tax to claim their prize.

If you have not entered a lottery or signed up to be eligible to win a prize, this should raise red flags to you. Please do not give out personal information or financial information over the phone to the caller.
