CRA Scam Refuses to Die Out

Bonnyville RCMP wish to remind the public once more that the Canada Revenue Agency Scam just isn’t going away.

The routine is that someone receives a call from someone claiming to be from the CRA or RCMP and that they owe more taxes. If they don’t pay up they’ll be arrested. Once again, the RCMP does not enforce debt collection for the government. Police advise to get off the phone immediately, no matter how persistent the phone calls are and to not give out any personal information to the caller.

The biggest red flag is if a scammer asks for payment in any way other than Canadian dollars.
