MD Downgrades to Fire Advisory

After a very wet long weekend, the MD of Bonnyville has downgraded its fire ban to a fire advisory.

Heavy burning permits and fireworks are still banned, but campfires, burn barrels and controlled fires on industrial sites are allowed once more.

The Fire Advisory does not apply to cities, towns, villages, summer villages, or federal lands within the Municipality.

The Provincial Fire Ban and Forest Closure Order (OHV restriction) that covers the Ft. McMurray and Lac La Biche Forest Areas include the northern half of the Municipal District of Bonnyville, which is Fire Control Zone 43 and under Provincial Jurisdiction, is still in effect. MD residents living in the Forest Protection Area are advised to monitor www.albertafirebans.ca for information on the Provincial Fire Ban.
