Bonnyville Community Baptist Church Looking For Donations For Fort Mac Evacuees

The Bonnyville Community Baptist Church has a good stock for Fort McMurray evacuees in some areas, but is in desperate need for others.

The official list is as follows.

All canned foods
Coffee creamer
Salt, pepper, and spices
Lots of jam and jelly
Ketchup, mustard, relish
Bug spray and sunscreen
Laundry soap
Canned fruit
Towels
Paper towels
RV friendly Toilet Paper
Boys size 8-10 pants

However, Pastor Ben Smith adds that the church needs some extra man power as well. “We need lots of help. We’ve been using lots of volunteers and they’ve been incredible. However, we need people to help us for the long-term running the store basically. Anywhere from 9 AM to 6 PM we have volunteer shifts and a sign up here at the church. That would be amazing if people if people would like to give a little time to these folks.”

Smith adds that demand is going to spike dramatically in the next while. Evacuees who wish to return to the city have been told to bring two weeks worth of supplies with them. The church has been providing about a week’s worth of goods at a time up to this point.
