Province Giving Money Out to Evacuees Today

Fort McMurray evacuees can go to the Bold Center in Lac La Biche today to pick up a debit card containing an emergency payment from the government of Alberta.

Each adult will get a card with $1,250 on it and children under 18 will get $500. Cards are available at four evacuation centres across the province, two in Calagary, one in Edmonton and another at the Bold Center. The town and MD of Bonnyville are advising any evacuees in town to wait until tomorrow to go pick up their payment, as the line will be extremely long today.

Cards will start being given at 2.
