More Generosity Shown at Local Bottle Drive for Evacuees

A bottle drive being organized for evacuees has shown once again the near bottomless pit of generosity in the Lakeland for victims of the Fort McMurray disaster.

April Charrois has organized a bottle drive in the parking lot across from the Fas Gas today until 8 and all day tomorrow. Already a local citizen has donated an entire industrial bin – equivalent to roughly 40 truckloads – of bottles to the cause, the proceeds of which will go to the red cross.

That alone would be fantastic beyond belief, but as we were speaking to April, another staggering act of generosity took place. She was nearly left speechless when an anonymous donor gave two thousand dollars to the cause. “This is seriously the most amazing community to live in,” April said with her voice breaking from emotion, “I can’t believe how generous people are and how willing people are to help when something like this happens.”

So far, Canadians have donated over thirty million dollars to the Red Cross nationwide.
