It’s still very early going, but local musician Renee Malo says she’s trying to organize a relief concert for victims of the Fort McMurray fire.
Interest has already been enormous. Malo says she’s already had five or six bands express interest in performing and she’ll have to pick and chose between them for the best variety of acts. She’s also got a few businesses willing to donate silent auction items for the evening as well.
A date and venue is still being worked on. She says the Cold Lake Energy Centre would be her first choice, but she needs to hear back from Mayor Craig Copeland on Monday on whether or not it will be needed for evacuees. If so, the Agriplex will be plan B.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.
