A Fire Advisory issued in the MD of Bonnyville yesterday has been upgraded to a restriction today.
While a freeze on new fire permits was already in effect, all existing ones before then are now suspended. All currently burning fires are required to be extinguished as well.
The following are not affected by the ban,
• Portable propane fire pits, that are CSA approved or UL certified, within campgrounds, backcountry and random camping areas;
• Gas or propane stoves and barbeques, that are CSA approved or UL certified and are designed for cooking or heating, within campgrounds, backcountry and random camping areas;
• Fires contained in industrial facilities or on industrial sites as approved by a forest officer; and
• Wood burning campfires in engineered facilities in designated campgrounds.
The restriction will stay in effect until further notice.
