St. Paul Man Fails to Fool Officer

A 44-year-old St. Paul man tried both tricks in the “avoid getting in trouble when you get pulled over” playbook, but neither of them worked.

A Bonnyville RCMP officer was driving on Highway 657 near Kehewin when he saw a minivan with expired plates. He pulled the van over and while he was walking up to it, he saw the driver and passenger switch seats. The officer asked the original driver for his ID, but he provided a fake name. The man was arrested for Obstruction and outstanding warrants after police checks were completed. He remains in custody and appeared in Bonnyville provincial court today. He will appear again later this week in St. Paul Provincial Court for outstanding matters from St. Paul RCMP and Elk Point RCMP.
