1st Annual Day of Mourning Ceremony in Bonnyville on Thursday

A local group has organized Bonnyville’s 1st Day of Mourning ceremony for workplace related deaths this Thursday at the C2 Fieldhouse.
The event will begin at 10:30 and feature speakers from the community. A moment of silence will be held for the 125 men and women who died from workplace injuries and illnesses in this province  at 11. Gayle Bulbeck is a member of the group of safety professionals in the Lakeland who’s organizing the ceremony. “I’ve been associated with different safety organizations. in my previous employment, we always had a day of mourning celebration there so we decided it was a good opportunity to get one going here in the Lakeland region.”

Bulbeck adds that workplace deaths can be prevented by being aware of workplace hazards, intervening if you see a co-worker doing something dangerous and being aware of changing conditions.
