Theft on oilfield leases leading to police investigations. Various RCMP detachments throughout the Lakeland are investigation cases of automotive batteries being stolen from oilfield well sites. The batteries are used to power engine shacks, and without them the safety on the sites is compromised. Areas around Elk Point, Ardmore, Bonnyville and Cold Lake have all reported thefts of batteries. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them and for the public and landowners to be extra aware of any suspicious activities around oil well sites.
