Federal Candidates Release 2015 Election Expenses

Candidates have released their expenses for the 2015 federal election and the Conservatives turned out to be the big spenders in both regional ridings.

Shannon Stubbs outspent all the other candidates combined by a wide margin in the Lakeland riding. Her campaign spent $95,439.55, compared to NDP candidate Duane Zaraska’s $8,352.03 and Liberal Garry Parentau’s $5,915.71. Stubbs received 363 contributions for her bid while the next closest managed only 16.

Things were a bit closer in Fort McMurary-Cold Lake where David Yurdiga spent $81,523.68 and Liberal Kyle Harrietha $76,417.78. Roelof Janssen of the Christian Heritage Party was able to get a remarkable amount of money behind his campaign for a smaller party. He received $12,875.00 from 24 contributors and spent $9,797.73 leading up to the election.  Showing some remarkable fiscal prudence, Green Party candidate Brian Deheer spent a grand total of $7.50.
