Bandits and Renegades Organizing Volunteer Cleanup of Local Sand Pits

Bonnyville Bandits coach Robbie Cole was quadding around the sand pits north of Camp St. Louis one day and was disgusted with what he saw. People had dumped all kinds of garbage around the area and left it to rot. Everything from furniture to oil drums to packages was left scattered about.

This simply would not do and so Robbie is enlisting the help of the  Bandits and Renegades – as well as anyone else who wishes to volunteer – to clean the area up this Saturday from 9 until at least noon.

The cleanup is gaining steam quickly. The MD of Bonnyville is hauling bins to the area,Thinkwerx is supplying some free shirts to volunteers, portable washrooms will be provided as well as a free lunch. Cole hopes that getting the Bandits and Renegades out there in particular will serve as a teachable moment. He hopes after seeing the garbage left in the middle of the woods, the kids will think twice about doing anything similar themselves.

Prospective volunteers are encouraged to bring their trailers or trucks or anything else that can help haul garbage with them. To volunteer, contact Robbie at 780-826-0075. If you can’t reach him, you can also contact Mickey Fangan at 780-812-4641 or Kevin Sartain at 780-573-6650.
