Local fundraising effort gives money to Organ Transplant initiatives. The Second Chance Trail Ride, which is held annually in the spring, raised over $65 000 this year to raise organ transplant awareness and help aide those in the Lakeland going through the transplant process. The majority of the funds raised from the horse ride and dinner-dance event was given to the Good Hearts foundation which houses patients and their families in apartments during the organ transplant process. Another ten thousand will be used to place billboards throughout the Lakeland helping aide awareness of organ donation. The first billboard was erected at the Bonnyville Curling Rink on Tuesday.
