French Immersion in Cold Lake Centralized to Art Smith Next Year

Declining enrollment has led to NLSD to make the decision to put all of its French Immersion programs in Cold Lake under one roof.

Starting next year, Art Smith Aviation Academy will house all French Immersion students in the city. Programs right now are based out of Art Smith as well as North Star Elementary and Cold Lake Middle School.

The division consulted with parents and staff earlier this year regarding how to strengthen the French Immersion program. The benefits of centralization made themselves clear quickly. During the meetings one of the parents raised the idea of a French Immersion summer camp that was received enthusiastically. The division will look into setting one up.
