David Yurdiga Remembers Jim Hillyer

MP for Fort McMurray—Cold Lake David Yurdiga was shocked to hear of the passing of fellow MP Jim Hillyer this morning, as was the rest of parliament.

Hillyer was found deceased in his office this morning having just returned from a surgery on his leg. Other than mentioning that he felt ill the day before, the news came without any warning at all.

“I sat on many committees with Jim” says Yurdiga “He sat four chairs down from me in the house of commons. We were friends and it was very hard when I heard this morning that he’s passed on… for our whole caucus it was a real shock. We continue our prayers for him and his wife and his children at this point.”

Hillyer was 41.
