MD Coyote and Wolf Program Wraps Up, Declared a Success

Director of Agricultural and Waste Services for the MD of Bonnyville, Matt Janz says this year’s wolf and coyote reduction program was a success.

The program was concluded for this year last week after its budget ran out. Janz reported to MD Council today that they received 66 wolves through the program this year, a dramatic uptick from the usual 35 or so in a typical year. Janz also reported that there hasn’t been a single incident of livestock lost to predation in the past six months.  However, coyotes tend to step their hunting up to feed their young during April, May and June so that might change.
