One person is in critical condition following a single vehicle collision. Early Monday (Oct 6) morning, a vehicle traveling on Highway 881, just north of Highway 630, crossed into the oncoming traffic lane and drove into a ditch and then struck an approach. At this time the vehicle became airborne for a few hundred feet before tumbling end over end, subsequently ejecting the driver. When Members of the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment arrived at the scene, the lone occupant, a 27 year old male resident of Ashmont, and the driver were being transported by ambulance to St. Paul Hospital. The driver was then airlifted by STARS to Edmonton and is in critical condition. At this point in the investigation, police believe alcohol may have been involved.Â
