Lakeland MS Society Honours Top Contributors at Awards Night

The Lakeland MS Society recognized some of their top fundraisers, sponsors and all their volunteers yesterday their annual awards night.

One of the notable recipients on the night 8-year-old Griffin Purdy, who captained the top fundraising team of the year at over 13,000 dollars with events such as last summer’s toy car show at the Bonnyville A&W.  No small feat considering the Lakeland MS Society raises more money per capita than any other region in Canada. In fact, 6 different people or groups were able to raise over 10,000 dollars last year. Brenda Rosychuk with the Society says Purdy took some inspiration from the Stanley cup in celebrating, “He wanted to put root beer in the top of the trophy. That was pretty cool for him to come up and carry that thing.  It was almost the size of him.”

In total the MS Society in the Lakeland has been able to raise over 140,000 dollars over the past year.
