Canada 150 St. Paul Looking for Old Bell, School House

St. Paul’s Canada 150 Committee is diving headfirst into celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday next year, and they’re on the hunt for an old bell (pictured above) that used to be on the roof of the rec centre and an entire schoolhouse, the whereabouts of both of which have been lost to time.

Both the bell and the schoolhouse were present in St. Paul for Canada’s 100th birthday in 1967, but it’s anyone’s guess what’s happened to them since.  Linda Sallstrom with the Chamber of Commerce and one of the members on the Canada 150 Committee, says the bell in particular might have some deep historical roots. She’s heard stories that the bell originally belonged to a mission before it made its way to the rec centre.

Even if both items have been destroyed since ’67 the committee would appreciate knowing when, why and how it happened to solve the mystery of what happened to them. Anyone with information on either, or who might have other artifacts of historical value, is encouraged to call the committee at 780-645-5820
