Lakeland Fraudsters

Lakelanders are being reminded about fraudsters in the area. The Bonnyville RCMP received a complaint from a concerned citizen reporting a suspicious phone call from the Canadian Police Foundation claiming to be raising money for a RCMP Anti- Bullying Campaign. After investigation, the Detachment learned the phone number provided was linked to numerous other fraud complaints. The Bonnyville RCMP wants to advise residents that they are not collecting money for an anti-bullying campaign and are reminding residents to be careful when providing information over the phone to any soliciting organization. The detachment would also like to make residents in the area aware of a suspicious paving company going door to door soliciting work. All businesses should be background checked before hire.
