Expired Licence Plate Leads to Drug and Weapons Charges

A man’s expired licence plate ended up getting him arrested on multiple drug and weapons charges.

An RCMP officer was patrolling around Bonnyville on the 9th and saw truck with the expired plate. The officer pulled the truck over and asked the driver for identification. When the 36-year-old Ardmore man couldn’t produce any he was asked to get out of the truck. A search of the man revealed a bag of meth in his pocket. A search of the truck revealed more bags of the drug, along with weapons, ammo and drug paraphernalia. Further checks showed the man was banned from owning any guns or ammo due to a pending Assault With a Weapon charge. He was arrested and remains in custody.
