The fire advisory issued for the MD of Bonnyville and surrounding areas has been lifted.
The advisory ended at noon on June 2, for the MD of Bonnyville, the Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach and Pelican Narrows, and the Village of Glendon.
According to the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, the advisory was lifted due to recent rainfall and favourable weather conditions in the forecast.
Regular fire permitting process has resumed and residents are still being reminded to use caution with campfires and outdoor burning. Fire officials say campfires should never be left unattended and should be fully extinguished using the “Soak it, stir it, soak it again” method until cook to the touch.
“Report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE,” reads the release. “Monitor www.albertafirebans.ca for daily updates or contact the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority at (780) 826-4755.”
