3 Arrested After Shots Fired During Fishing Lake Police Chase

A man and two women are in custody after a police chase that saw one of the suspects open fire on an RCMP cruiser.

Elk Point RCMP were called in last Saturday afternoon to the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement after receiving a call of a  man pointing a gun at two people in the area. The man was believed to be in a small red car.

Not long after, RCMP spotted the car and engaged in a pursuit. Police had to call it off as the suspect made his way north to Frog Lake First Nations due to a concern for public safety.

Later, another officer spotted the car speeding past  them and tried to chase it. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the car and opened fire. The car then drove into a ditch and three people ran into the bush. A large search effort was conducted featuring members from Bonnyville, Cold Lake, St Paul, Traffic Services, Elk Point and Police Dog Services and a helicopter. All three suspects were tracked down and arrested. No officers were hurt in the incident.
