Cold Lake council approved its third childcare incentive grant, helping bring more than 170 new childcare spaces to the community since the program launched.
The latest funding goes to Kiddie Cove Academy in downtown Cold Lake, which has been licensed for 78 spaces for children aged 12 months to five years, along with 30 out-of-school care spaces. The facility will receive the maximum $30,000 grant through the City’s Childcare Space Incentive Program.
“The response to this program has been fantastic,” said Mayor Bob Mattice. “Not only are jobs being created, but they are also providing a service that is in high demand, and which allows families to participate in the labour market when they are ready to.”
Kiddie Cove Academy is the third provider to receive funding under the program. Previous grants were awarded to the 4 Wing Military Family Resource Centre Society and Haven Childcare in 2025.
The city says funding is still available to support the creation of about 40 more childcare spaces. For more information about the program and other incentive programs, visit the city’s website.
