Special Olympics Door to Door Scam Reported in St. Paul

If someone knocks on your door claiming to be from Special Olympics St. Paul in the next few days, do not give any money. It’s a scam.

Reports have come in of a man going door to door in St. Paul claiming to represent the organization looking for donations. Special Olympics St. Paul has released a statement on their Facebook page saying the man is not in any way affiliated with the organization and that anyone who sees him should contact the St. Paul RCMP immediately at 780-645-8888. Special Olympics St. Paul never goes door to door.

Chairperson for the organization Anna Scheffelmiar was very upset upon hearing the news this morning. “We’re a non-profit, we have about 30 athletes and maybe 5 volunteers including coaches. It’s like a pick on the little people kind of thing.”
