Alex Janvier to Have Exhibition at National Gallery

Local artist Alex Janvier will soon have his own exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada.

Janvier – a resident of Cold Lake First Nations – is one of the most acclaimed painters in the country. He was named a member of the order of Canada in 2007 and received the Governor General’s Award for Visual and Media Arts in 2008.

The exhibition will run from November 10th of this year until March 26th of 2017, featuring over 75 works from his early days in the 60s up to the present.

If you can’t make it out to Ottawa to see them, Janvier has a gallery on the CLFN that you can see by appointment. A 45 foot diameter circle mosaic of his artwork titled Tsa Tsa Ke K’e (Iron Foot Place) will also be installed at the new Rogers Place in Edmonton.
