M.D. Trail Project Moving Along

Turkey and a trail system is on the Thanksgiving menu for residents in the M.D. of Bonnyville. The M.D. of Bonnyville has announced work on it’s newest trail system will begin after the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Council approved the purchase of 600-thousand dollars in trail building equipment earlier this year, which despite a delay, has finally been delivered. The addition of the trails will allow for residents in the M.D. and neighbouring communities to enjoy the outdoors and permit everyone to bike, walk or roll from Jessie Lake to Moose Lake.

The first phase of the trail system will run from Highway 28 to Rang Road 465. Darcy Zelisko, Director of Transportation and Utilities, is currently working with Alberta Transportation to get approval to use an old cattle crossing under Highway 28 by the Shaw House. The approval would allow users to cross the trail without having to go on the highway.

The second phase, in cooperation with the Town of Bonnyville, will connect the new trail with the Town’s existing trail at Jessie Lake.
