Cold Lake RCMP say “proactive patrols” led to the recovery of stolen vehicles and weapons late last month.
On September 25, officers found a stolen pickup truck parked outside a residence, though the occupants of the residence did not recognize the vehicle.
“After further investigation, a residence with possible stolen property was identified and a warrant was obtained,” reads the RCMP release. “Cold Lake RCMP arrived at the residence and noted someone trying to flee in a vehicle. A Tire Deflation Device was deployed, resulting in the vehicle stopping and a suspect being arrested.”
During the search, RCMP seized two shotguns, ammunition, a machete, stolen vehicle, and stolen license plate.
As a result, a 32-year-old Cold Lake resident was arrested and charged. The charges include, failure to stop, driving while prohibited, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and five counts of other firearm-related offences.
The suspect was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody and is set to appear in court on October 15.
