Bonnyville contractor first to nail the town’s Housing Incentive Program

A local company is the first to tap into a town of Bonnyville program designed to boost housing growth and support local builders.

Blocha Contracting Ltd. is the first contractor to access the town’s Single-Family Home Builders Incentive, which provides $25,000 for each new home constructed in Bonnyville.

“This is what economic development looks like in action,” said Mayor Elisa Brosseau. “Supporting a local contractor through our incentive program shows the town is committed to creating real opportunities for growth – right in Bonnyville.”

The initiative is part of the towns broader Housing Incentive Program, created to address a shortage of homes following a 14 percent population increase since 2020.

New homeowners buying newly-built single-family homes can also receive municipal property tax reductions 100 percent in the first three years, 75 percent in the fourth year, and 50 percent in the fifth. Builders of multi-family units can receive $10,000 per unit.

The Housing Incentive Program is capped at $500,000 and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and council will review the program each Budget Season.
