Unplugged Family Literacy Event Tonight at Notre Dame Gym

After much planning, the Bonnyville Municipal Library is hosting the Unplugged Family Literacy Event tonight at the Notre Dame Elementary school gym.

The event is aimed at fighting back at the growing amount of time technology like cellphones and computers take up in a family’s life in favour of face to face bonding and good old-fashioned reading. The library has a whole cast of special guests to help them out as well. Expect to see Mayor Gene Sobolewski (who will be playing a few songs on his guitar),  the Bonnyville Pontiacs, local author Ruth Snyder and more.

Library Program Director Kim Deschaine says there’s tons of fun activities as well, including a book walk, pictionary and what she calls “human scrabble.”

Families can also pick up a planner that will allow them to track how much time they spend offline after the event.
