Timeline for New Walsh Field Dependent on Funds

The coalition looking to overhaul Walsh Field is confident that their dream will come true at some point, although whether that will be sooner or later remains up in the air.

Mickey Fangan is a member of the Bonnyville Amateur Football Association  and says that the group is still canvassing for funds at the moment, but once they get the substantial sum required, they would have a window between May 15th and August 15th of any given year due to the scheduling issues. If the funds come in too late, work will have to start around the same time next year. Fangan would prefer to get things started this year as Bonnyville has a bid in place for the Alberta Summer Games and the new Walsh Field would be perfect for them.

Friends of Walsh Field is an effort spearheaded by the  Football Association in conjunction with several other sporting associations. They plan to turn the field into a state of the art facility with turf, an IAAF approved running track, visitor’s change rooms, a brand new media room and  a giant scoreboard with an 18 foot screen that would display ads to generate revenue.
