A hazardous material spill led to the evacuation of some homes and businesses in Bonnyville on the morning of May 27.
According to the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, the incident happened at a business in the 4500 block of 68 Street.
“The spill has been contained, and cleanup procedures are currently underway and expected to continue throughout the day,” stated the BRFA.
As precaution, nearby homes and businesses were evacuated. Authorities say they are monitoring the situation closely. “Should any further evacuations be necessary, the public will be notified immediately.”
“We thank the public for their cooperation and urge everyone to avoid the area while response efforts continue,” the BRFA added.
The town of Bonnyville also posted a notice on social media Tuesday morning regarding the incident.
