Cold Lake city council has approved entering a team in the 2025 Ronald McDonald House Lakeland Charity Golf Classic, continuing its tradition of supporting families in medical crisis. The unanimous decision was made during the May 13 regular council meeting.
The tournament will take place on June 14 at the Cold Lake Golf and Winter Club. The city will cover the $600 team entry fee using funds from Council Goodwill. “We typically go in this one every year,” said Mayor Craig Copeland, noting council’s consistent participation in the annual fundraiser.
Funds raised from the event go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Alberta, which helps families stay close to their sick or injured children who are receiving treatment at hospitals in Edmonton. RMHC offers a home-away-from-home, providing accommodations, meals, and emotional support for families during what is often one of the most difficult times in their lives.
The Lakeland Charity Golf Classic is one of the organization’s key fundraising events in the region and brings together local businesses, community leaders, and residents in support of children’s health and family well-being.
Council expressed their appreciation for the work done by RMHC and the importance of continuing to show community support through events like the golf classic.
