Bonnyville declares May 26-30 Alberta Rural Health week

The town of Bonnyville has officially declared May 26-30 as Alberta Rural Health Week, with Mayor Elisa Brosseau emphasizing the crucial role of healthcare providers and volunteers in the community.

The announcement was made during the May 13 council meeting. “Not only do their skills and expertise enhance the well-being of residents, but these professionals also play vital roles as family members, friends, neighbours, volunteers, teachers, and mentors. Their dedication strengthens the fabric of rural life,” said Brosseau.

Alberta Rural Health Week is an annual event that celebrates those who support and strengthen healthcare across rural Alberta. The initiative encourages community members to share their appreciation using the hashtag #ABRuralHealthMatters.

Brosseau also acknowledged the efforts of volunteers. “Equally important are teh community volunteers… who work tirelessly to support healthcare services and providers,” she said. “These volunteers are the heart of their communities, developing innovative and collaborative approaches to attract and retain healthcare professionals.”

Residents are encouraged to join in recognizing the contributions of rural healthcare workers and volunteers throughout the week.
