Fire ban lifted and fire restriction issued for MD of Bonnyville and surrounding areas

A fire restriction is in effect for the Municipal District of Bonnyville, Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach, Summer Village of Pelican Narrows, and the Village of Glendon as of 3:30 p.m. on May 15.

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority announced that all fire permit requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Residents are reminded to check any winter burn sites for full extinguishment and to use extreme caution during windy conditions.

Safe wood campfires within fire rings in campgrounds and on both public and private land, backyard fire pits and charcoal briquette barbecues on private land, along with propane or natural gas-powered appliances are allowed.

All cooking, warming, and lighting devices must be CSA approved and used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Authorities urge residents never to leave a campfire unattended. “Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished.” Any wildfires spotted should be reported immediately by calling 310-FIRE.
