A level three fire restriction is now in effect for the county of St. Paul as of 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 30, due to dry conditions and rising temperatures.
Under the level three fire restriction, all open-air burning is prohibited, including the use of burn barrels and burning of grass, leaves, or branches on residential or lake lot properties. Fire permits are suspended or cancelled, and no new permits will be issued until further notice.
Small, contained wood campfires used for cooking or warming are still permitted on private property and in campgrounds. Landowners are urged to check previous brush burn sites to ensure they are fully extinguished.
Officials will continue to monitor conditions and are thanking residents for their cooperation. For questions, contact the county of St. Paul at 780-645-3301 or St. Paul Fire Services at 780-645-4100.
