Four arrested after RCMP seize drugs near Elk Point

RCMP have charged four people after a suspicious vehicle attempted to flee from police near Elk Point around 3 a.m. on April 23.

Elk Point RCMP were on patrol when they spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. “During the traffic stop it was determined that three occupants of the vehicle were breaching conditions of court orders and were arrested,” according to information released by RCMP. “While executing the arrest, members observed drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs in the vehicle. All occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested.”

RCMP searched the vehicle, leading to the seizure of approximately 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine, six grams of suspected cocaine, one gram of suspected heroin, a small amount of fentanyl, and additional items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Shane Fayant, 46-year-old Fishing Lake resident, is facing charges of four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

Kezia Lewis, 36-year-old Onion Lake resident, has been charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Fayant and Lewis were taken before a Justice of the Peace and both were remanded into custody. Both are scheduled to appear in St. Paul court on May 1.

Eliza Lewis, 37-year-old resident of Onion Lake, has been charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Eliza was taken before a Justice of the Peace, and was released on $200 bail and is schedule to appear in St. Paul court on May 22.

Logan Berland, 23-year-old resident of Frog Lake, has been charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a $250 bail and is set to appear in St. Paul court on May 22.
