Homeless Study To Be Done in Bonnyville

Homelessness is more prevalent in Bonnyville then most residents are aware of. Alberta Rural Network  has awarded funding to the Bonnyville Family and Community Support Services to investigate the number of homeless in the town. The town does not see many citizens living without shelter, but it does see a high number of “Hidden Homeless”. “Hidden Homeless” see’s people living in RV’s, vehicles, less than appropriate housing and in younger adults, couch surfing. Director of Communications and Services for the Bonnyville FCSS, David Beal, says t”he funding will go a long ways in collect meaningful data. Beal adds the FCSS will be forming a committee of people that are willing to help fix the ongoing situation in the area. The data collected allows the organization to hire a few individuals to examine and analyze the ongoing hidden homeless problem in the town to form accurate statistics.
