Edmonton Man Flees From Bonnyville RCMP

On September 17th, 2014 at 3:09 PM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a complaint reporting that an intoxicated male left Tellier’s Drug Mart, driving away in a red truck.
The Bonnyville RCMP Member’s attended the area immediately and located the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating their emergency equipment.  The vehicle failed to stop for police and headed towards the Kehewin First Nations Town Site.  At this point, the Bonnyville RCMP were concerned for the safety of the public and requested that the nearby school and recreation center were placed on lock down for the safety of the children.
The suspect vehicle was located and the two female passengers were arrested however the driver had fled the scene.  The driver, a 32 year old male resident of Edmonton, was located in a nearby culvert and subsequently arrested.
The driver faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs of Alcohol, Dangerous Driving, Flight From Police Officer, Possession of Stolen Property, Driving while Suspended and Driving with No Insurance.
The male has been held in custody to ensure the safety of the public due to the nature of the offence and his criminal history including multiple Impaired Operation convictions and previous Flight from the Police.   The female passengers also face charges of Possession of Stolen Property.
