Petition to Stop Photo Radar in St. Paul

Hundreds of residents in St. Paul have united as one voice to stop photo radar from coming to the town. The Town of St. Paul Council recently received a petition with over 700 signatures in favour of having RCMP and/or Peace Officers perform traffic enforcement duties, therefor eliminating the need for photo radar.

Council accepted the petition and has 30 days to review it to ensure it is deemed sufficient, which means those who signed must be citizens of the town and make up 10 per cent of the town’s 6000 person population.

The town of St. Paul mayor Glenn Anderson, says the town isn’t looking to increase its policing budget.Anderson adds the town already pays 1.2 million dollars annually for policing services, plus overtime hours. Council will next review the document after the 30-day mark and after all legal issues have been dealt with.
