Touchdown…Walsh Field!

Bonnyville’s Walsh Field is set to light up the town. Municipal District of Bonnyville Council agreed to give $112,000 to the Bonnyville Minor Football Association to pay for the total cost of installing stadium lighting on Walsh Field in the Town of Bonnyville. The Association is a community football league that attracts youth of both sexes from across the region. Presently, 60 percent of the youth on the teams are from the M.D. The association charges a minimal annual fee of $150 to participants, which covers all playing costs. If a youth does not have the funds, Kid Sport is asked to cover the costs. Currently there are about 100 families involved in the three football levels. The lighting will also enhance other activities on the field such as track and seniors using it for walking.
