Alberta HUB has presented the facts. At Tuesday’s (Sept.9) Town of Bonnyville Council Meeting, Bob Bezpalko from Alberta HUB, presented council with an array of facts and statistics outlining a communication barrier between the region and the Provincial government. According to Alberta HUB, the region consists of over 83,000 wells (56,000 in the M.D. of Bonnyville alone) but Alberta Transportation only recognizes 9,900 of these wells. More than $20 million is leaving the Lakeland region each year, which in turn, should be spent on repairing and strengthening the areas infrastructure. Over 16,000 oversized permits were issued in 2012, combined with over 3,000 oil haulers travelling the roadways each day, makes for an extreme amount of wear and tear.
