Bonnyville MD launches winter program to control coyote and wolf populations

In a strategic move to address the rising challenges posed by increasing coyote and wolf populations, the Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 is launching the Coyote & Wolf Reduction Incentive Program for the winter season of 2023-2024.

The MD will provide monetary incentive of $15 for each coyote and $150 for each wolf taken down between November 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024. Although, those numbers could change as it’s subject to the upcoming municipal budget.

To qualify for these incentives, individuals must transport the coyotes and wolves to the ASB/Public Workshop located north of Bonnyville. Prior to bringing in the animals, participants need to call 780-826-3951 to ensure that verification staff is available.

Animals will be accepted during specified hours from Monday to Thursday, 7:30-8 a.m. and 3-4 p.m., and on Friday 7:30-8 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Special appointments can be made by calling the ASB office at 780-826-3951 if these hours are not convenient.
