Alberta Health Services spotlights addiction, recovery during National Addictions Awareness Month

In observance of National Addictions Awareness Week, running from November 19 to 25, Alberta Health Services is taking proactive steps to address the harms associated with substance use.

This year’s NAAW theme, “Inspiration, Innovation and Inclusion” serves as a platform for AHS. Spotlighting the strides made in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery.

Embracing a recovery-oriented approach, AHS is working to expand and enhance access to treatment and support services for Alberta, irrespective of their location.

With the backing of the Government of Alberta, AHS has bolstered its support for those grappling with addiction. Initiatives include the augmentation of opioid treatment through the establishment of additional clinics and the expansion of the Virtual Opioid Dependency Program.

Recognizing the significance of engaging Albertans as active partners in their care, AHS emphasizes a range of services. Assisting individuals facing mental health challenges or dealing with addiction. The path to recovery is diverse for each person, and AHS emphasizes that recovery is indeed possible.
